I have no difficulty fitting in my car (1988 Honda Civic) or any rental/work cars I've driven in the past. My complaint is about the pants and belts sold in stores. I have a 30-inch waist, but most pants and belts start at 32 inches. So while I have a license to pig out, shopping for pants or belts is a James Bond mission.

You thought you had trouble finding pants. From what I see in the stores, manufacturers have determined men don't need odd waist sizes (35, 37, 39....) after size 33. It's surprising that an extra inch can make pants look baggy. (Wearing a 38 when you need a 37.)
