You MIGHT be missing out on some growth that a 100% stock portfolio would provide but you are also adding a lot of risk reduction.


If by "risk" you mean standard deviation, it is true that an all-equities portfolio will have more variability. I assert that over a 20-year period this will be insignificant. I have seen a number of studies based on the Ibbotson data which shows that (even in retirement) no more than 20% fixed income is better.
