I discovered it by picking up a book in a coffee shop. I was having a cup of tea and chatting with a friend, and I noticed a small bookshelf with a sign above that said, "Free books!" So I took a look and found a book that looked promising and took it home.

The idea behind bookcrossing is that people "set their books free" by leaving them somewhere in public or giving them to a friend or stranger. You can leave them on the subway or in a doctor's office. There are also establishments, such as coffee shops, where the proprietor encourages people to leave or take bookcrossing books. It is good for business, because it draws people in.

To add a book to the library, you simply go to the website and get a number for the book. Write the number and website into the book and leave it somewhere or give it away. Later you can go back and check on the book to see where it is and who
