Personally, I am not sure I would consider being retired well unless I can afford this and some of my other interests. Apparently, you have not had a job from hell yet. I used to think I needed a much higher standard of living than I have now, until I had a few really really bad experiences with working. That has opened my eyes to a new view on what is really required to live happily. Believe me, it is probably much less than you think. I do agree with you that the balance is different for each person. I just wanted to point out that I've been where you are, and now I'm here in a different place, and my wants had nothing to do with me moving. It was all external. I would not wish my life experiences on anyone, though. - tmeri |
