RE: joyc: "84 Ford Tempo"
The Ford Tempo, and it's twin Mercury Topaz, have always had a reputation as sturdy relaible cars. If you go to Google and enter [ Ford Tempo ] you'll find lots of information.
Any car that sat unused for a long time will require some attention, especially concerning the fue system and all lubricants. Have a good mechanic take a look at it for you. If it's been sitting on its tires the whole time I'd replace them too.
Older vehicles like this don't have a bood value per se. What they have is more like "utility value", based on how much usefel service they're likely to render. Look at the asking prices for similar cars, consider how much value this particular vehicle might have to you, and subtract the costs of getting it running again.
SB (but, you could end up with a nice solid sensible car for cheap)
