I keep a tax file for any receipt that may be needed for taxes, and January to December files where everything else goes. On the first of each month, I pull all the stuff out of the file and pitch most of it. Anything that needs to be kept for future information then goes into subject files and the monthly file is ready for the current month's receipts.
