Andy,

Not that Peter needs defending, but a great many people on this board, including Peter, are professionals with many years experience: CPAs, EAs, ex-IRS guys, and the like. As for H&R Block, I'm sure they have plenty of knowledgeable profesionals. They also have their share of not-so-sharp folks, though I suppose that's more likely during tax season when they hire extra help. I'm a VITA/TCE volunteer, and we always ask clients to bring in the previous year's return. I've seen lots of errors on prior-year returns prepared by the pros at H&R Block, and I've amended a fair number of those returns. H&R Block doesn't necessarily = correct return.
