My wife and I have a portfolio completely invested in individual stocks and stock mutual funds. We also have a 6-month emergency money market fund. She will be leaving her job in a few months and has a sizable 403b we're thinking of rolling over. Since we'd like to add a bond position to our portfolio, would it make sense to establish a Rollover IRA for her in a bond fund? And if so, is it wiser to invest in a taxable or non-taxable bond fund in an IRA?

I know more details may be needed to answer this, but I've never really heard anyone argue the pros and cons of bond funds in an IRA. (We're both in our mid 30s so we have a lengthy time horizon until retirement, if that helps.)
