A few of you mentioned the Zippy car and the McMansion. Those are fantasies that the Fool helped me break about a year ago. I've really turned coat and become a LBYM'er - my wife and I share the philosophy. We do try to find a balance in our personal life - don't want to wake up one day and realized we went 20 years without having any fun.
We've chosen careers where we don't expect to make a fortune - but we love what we do, so we've made compromises.
Could someone explain what badger was saying about the graduated savings rates - starting at 1% and then moving up? I'm sure he doesn't mean to earn returns of 10%, then 11%, etc.
I'll need to download that spreadsheet and play with it this evening.
Once we get step one set, I'll write again as we start phase 2.
