Hey, John, "The Intelligent Asset Allocator" is the version of Bernstein's book I've read, and the math just ain't that heavy. Try it, you'll like it. Another book I'd recommend is Roger Gibson's "Asset Allocation." I've used both of these books to guide my thinking on asset allocation.

Your teacher wisely pointed out that one reason for reading is understanding another point of view, even if the underlying rationale for that view is flawed. Very wise advice. Ideologic dogma can be scary stuff.
