As it is, anyone with an estate large enough to trip the estate tax can set up a family trust to avoid the tax. Well, it's a little more complex than that, and you can't always "avoid the tax". But yes, there are many ways to minimize one's estate tax liability, although to really do so one has to start planning a while before they pass on. -synchronicity |
