Subject:  Compoany Stock in 401k Plan - should I sell Date:  5/29/2005  9:51 AM
Author:  Jengla Number:  46276 of 88775

I am retired for 3 years. My 401k plan is > $500k and contains one stock which is an electric utility. It has increased in value over the last several years by close to 50%. It is large enough that I am considering diversification. A financial planner told me years ago there was a special tax treatment for a 401 k plan that contained a single stock from the company one worked for. The tax treatment dealt with how the stock appreciated in value.

Does anyone have information about this.
