Okay, I admit it, I always go and check out the "mark down" or "reduced for quick sale" meat at the end of the meat case. I almost always buy out of date beef. It doesn't hurt beef if it's a little dark.
I buy whole boneless pork loins at Sam's Club and cut them up myself, and I buy those big 10# bags of Chicken leg quarters, but when I'm in the mood for beef steak, I almost always buy it marked down. - Art
My mother referred to that as the "used meat bin".
If it's a little dark, it's just aged.
Sometimes get good beef shanks there, & now & then a lamb chop.
