I have this one friend who travels all over creation but is tight as a tick when it comes to donations to charities. I know for a fact since he's bragged about all his investments that he can afford it. I just don't understand people like that.
My philosophy in a nutshell is save a little, spend a little and give a little.
Your friend may have a philosophy of save a lot. (eanr wealth and invest)
Spend a lot (travel and enjoy your earned rewards)
Give a lot (like over half his income to various forms of tax, which may very well be way more than you give in taxes plus charity)
My point is not wether or not your friend is justified, rather my point is high tax, big government leads to less charity.
