Others seem to assume that their "normal" children need no such instruction, which I consider a serious dereliction of parental duty.
I had a son who was "between". Not enough trouble to help (from the school's point of view) but still had a lot of trouble. He fell through the cracks (bright but with reading problems). Anything that was done to help, we paid for. We all lived through it, and now he is a responsible citizen, with a fine family and a good job. He's really a very nice guy. Er, Go Dolphins!
I have to admit that DH and I held our breath until they actually called him on stage for his high school diploma.
