I wouldn't be so simplistic about it. Part of that assistance is going to end at age 67. He needs to save for later in life just like anyone else.
Ah. But he will still get both full disability from SS AND a pension. Sheesh. That's more than most people have. In addition to that, he will have interest from savings.
Of course he should continue to save and invest when there is money to do it with. One should ALWAYS do that.
But to "Enjoy life" is definitely NOT simplistic. Not when you give it some really serious thought. And, I might add, it's the most important thing he could possibly do. You only get one go-round in this life. Sometimes I think we forget that.
