I really don't want to debate whether rats are 'good' or 'bad'. However they are disease carrieers and there is ample justification for keeping them out of our food supply. Instead of punishing Whole Foods for doing what is required of them (getting rid of the rats), did you ever offer them any sort of effective alternative?
