As to the comment that started this thread -- about charging for errors -- I never charge to amend a return that contains an error that I made. On the other hand, if a client provides new data after a return is filed, that client is charged for the amended return.

We had a client this past spring that we had prepped a return for, and had called a courior to send it over. We call them to let them know, and they happen to mention "Oh, one of the partners sold their interest to another, does that matter."

That's the sort of changes that should be charged. Had we known the partner sold, and missed it, it would be a freebie.
