I think most of my former partners, business associates, and buddies plan to work until they drop dead, at which time their family will inherit loads of debt and lots of insurance.

Just an FYI, debt doesn't pass from generation to generation. It may make the inheritence zero as creditors will have the claim to any assets - monetary and physical. But kids won't 'inherit debt'.
