It seems to me that most people develop sarcasm as a defensive mechanism that can quite easily get out of hand. FWIW, my 14 yr old is working on getting her masters in it! But she hsa such an underlying sense of concern for other people's feelings, that I think she'll outgrow it if we remind her often enough. Her brother tends to bring out the worst in her at times!
