Actually MA has some nice ski resorts in Berkshire county that are cheaper than anything in NH and VT.
And the winters are not horrible. Yes we get snow--not like Buffalo's lake effect snow though. But more than most locales south of here. I find it to be a nice middle ground but I was deprived as snow as a child and have a lot of making up to do on that front. It rarely dips below zero in the time I have lived here. And when it does, it is at night when everyone is in bed snug and warm. Unlike MN, where daytime temps can be as low as 30 below (factor in the wind which never stops blowing there and it feels like -50).
Ice is rare. Having lived in both regions, I can say you can't say the same of AR/TX/MS/TN/OK, etc.
And I have paid a lot less taxes in MA than in other states I have lived in.
So why do you have a stick up your butt about MA?
