Thanks everyone for the replies.

Seattle, what's your deductible look like with a $580 a month payment? Has anyone experimented with high deductible, low monthly payment schemes? Is that foolish?

I'm a single male in my mid thirties, no dependents. I have no existing medical problems. Early retirement isn't in my immediate future (unless forced via a layoff).

Any general recommendations for a healthy, young person with no dependents? Private health insurance isn't something I know too much about yet.
