My wife and I haven't had much communication lately regarding our religious beliefs or lack-thereof lately. I believe I have mentioned before that this takes some compromise in our household in raising our kids. Inevitably, there is some tension when specific issues arise such as teaching our kids traditional religious beliefs, and what I like to call 'reality'.

Anyway, I thought that I might provide an avenue of discussion with my spouse - maybe something different..... So I purchased A New Kind of Christian by Brian McLaren. I had borrowed the book a few years ago to participate in discussion when this board was created. My wife doesn't travel the same circles I do online and in real life and hasn't been exposed to different lines of thought concerning Christianity. Instead of the typical I believe this vs. I don't discussions we have had, I thought this might provoke some thoughts and discussion on the nature of christianity (obviously, modern vs post-modern) and its adherents.

My wife has glanced over it but has not started reading it in depth..... I almost think there was some suspicion when she opened her present christmas morning. Wonder where that came from?
