Yes, it looks like I am alone here at this board. Oh, and it seems I am alone among my offline community of friends and relatives, too.
I have read tons of books and have listened to a lot of people, but I don't think they get my situation.
Am I the only one who has two stepkids with two different mothers and both mothers are hostile to my husband? Everything I read about being the "non custodial" parent, assumes both parties are interested in what is best for the child. That is not my world, nor has it been for the last 11 years. I also realize as I get older and my parents feel more free to talk, my childhood wasn't about what was best for me. It was about, on more than a few occasions, how to tick off the other parent.
Almost every week lately, my husband has gotten into a parenting contest with his 2nd ex. She wants to tell him how to be the father. Yes, she did start it with her cursing, but I don't think he should keep it going. No, he did not curse back. Then, he and I fight.
I get so torn up inside. I am close to both of my stepkids. I just don't know why there has to be so much competition from the moms.
I know this post is scattered. Since I have it to myself, I will try each day to do better.
I have a 20 year old stepdaughter, who lives with us. I have a 13 year old stepson who spends 3 weekends + half of vacations and holidays with us. And now that he is a teenager....., when he is in trouble he stays more.
I wish you well............especially if you are a stepparent....
