My my personal view point, I can't see doing it -- that said it seems to me the issue is a simple financial decision. It would be helpful if people knew where you lived. For example, I live in Georgia where there is not state income tax on Social Security and a healthy chunk of other income. The state of Tennessee has the Hall tax which would be a consideration. Another issue, how long do you and your wife expect to live? The average life expectancy for someone age 69 is 14 and 16.5 years for you and your wife. (http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/STATS/table4c6.html) But those are averages. Are you in good health? Did you parents live to age 95? Then there are issues of how much money you are taking from your IRAs.
