As 2009 winds up, it might help to look back on ideas and picks.
I had about 4 groups of watch-list ideas.

Grupo Originale
KSW MPEL CWTR STAR NOEC SMMX ENPT EVC LWAY DEP HOLI ALY MTRX ASYS

I commented in early June--
Through early May, 7 of those ideas doubled or tripled while on the watchlist (I said 8 then after double counting EVC)
- MPEL CWTR NOEC EVC ENPT ALY HOLI at some point in that
Okay, EVC, NOEC, ENPT, ALY were below $1/shr, but that was extreme value :)
Then again, ALY has managed doubles and triples over $1.

To be fair, some joined the double/triple club in the extreme fear conditions of late Feb/early Mar - MPEL CWTR, NOEC ALY (SMMX) .
My then-existing trading account portfolio, if purchased in that extreme fear period, also had ideas that managed doubles, triples or quadruples - MCGC, HTE, NM, PVX, SFL, AAV. I did hold onto some NM, PVX, SFL in the trading, or other accounts, to get some benefit of the bounce.

MPEL CWTR did manage doubles by themselves Jan - Sep
STAR joined them as a near triple after the Cisco buy-out & late bloomer, ASYS, tripled by year-end. The last idea is one I did invest in for a nice gain.

In summary, ideas that doubled or tripled without the fear factor
MPEL CWTR EVC ENPT ALY HOLI ASYS STAR
Hohum is no slouch when it comes to picking ideas for a watchlist :)
Hohum is not so good when it comes to investing in them :(
But investing is a continual process, so Hohum can potentially correct this :)
