a dinosaur connotes something anachronistic, past its prime, etc.
dinosaurs are only the most biolgically successful vertebrate land animals of all time!
How they can be past their prime!
After all they still technically exist today as Birds...
I think the societal connotation is wrong not the dinosaurs themselves.
But yeah they aren't too huggable, but that didn't stop Barney the Dinosaur and it won't hurt Foolsaurus. :)
