We are in interesting times. If you are going to be investing a steady stream into the future, I would consider buying a mix of stocks and bonds. If you are not planning on investing a steady stream, then I would consider dollar cost averaging in.

My favorite mutual fund is Wellington Fund. It has a low expense ratio, invests primarily in dividend paying blue chips, and has an intermediate bond component. This is the only mutual fund I know of I would feel comfortable investing large portions of my assets in.
