Days like this, we especially love being retired in Vermont! It's sunny but not too hot (80 or so now). We got out and did yard work this morning (we usually do "work" in the morning), we had a nice "Lotta Ricotta" pizza (and a Long Trail Ale for me) at our favorite little Italian restaurant, and now we plan to just plain relax!
My wife carefully did her rock garden, pulling weeds, raking, and spreading a bag of natural cedar mulch throughout it, so it looks nice. I transplanted several red leaf lettuce plants to a planter and some separate pots on the deck, raked and weeded my little 3x6 ft raised bed garden, added "Moodoo" (dried composted cow manure), and planted some yellow squash and cucumbers in it. Then I unlimbered my weed whacker on wheels for the first time. It had not been run for 2 years, but it started right up when I filled the tank. Nice toy. Lets you wheel it around over uneven ground and also clean up weeds growing against boards and rocks.
We figure that's enough for today! And we have no one to tell us otherwise!!! ;)
I'm going to go sit back now and watch TV with my wife. (We TIVO the Red Sox night games and then watch them the next day. I think there is another one tonight, too.)
Retirement is tough work, but somebody's gotta do it!!! ;)
