Henry, unless your spending (rent, food, gas, -- everything) are less than 1% of your investments or you plan on death in less than 15 years - think again.
There are things worse than having the value of one's portfolio drop with the S&P500 - like running out of money in your mid 80s.
I suggest you think about a balanced portfolio something in the range of 50% to 60% equities.
