One of my favorite stories of old age was one of France's oldest living woman - I beleve 115 at the time of the story - had a side-story to it.
30 years previous a lawyer had bought a reverse-morgage on her house, granting her an annual income in return for owning her property when she died. She must have been 85 when she signed the paperwork.
She outlived the lawyer.
I still smile when I think of it...
