Turbo Tax asked how long a dependent child has lived with the parent in question, asking how many months he lived with him, and says to include partial months.

If you check Pub 501 regarding children of parents who don't live together you'll find that the parent who has the child the most number of nights during the year is the "custodial" (term of art) parent. The cusotidal parent gets the exemption unless (s)he cedes it to the noncustodial parent or a legal agreement between the parties which meets a number of criteria says otherwise.
