I am wondering how one gets a disbursement from ones retirement accounts. Say I have $500k in my 401k, SEP Ira and regular Ira how do I withdraw these funds to support my retirement? Do I have to select which bonds funds or stocks to sell to get my 4% suggested withdrawal? I am not in favor of an annuity as it would disappear on death. Yes I know you can tailor these to provide a survivor income but it still seems dodgy to me.
Sorry to sound so clueless but I need to know the mechanics of withdrawing these retirement savings I have worked so hard to acquire
