Thanks for postings on the option board. I have to agree and disagree with fullofcarp.

First, I agree with carp on selection being the key to ANY stock picking with options or just the stock.

Second, if I could alway pick a winner I would use a different strategy which would be a synthetic long or a long call JOTM. Both would give you better returns.

The thing I like is the 10 percent downside potection where you still make some monies. Still would not have protected totally from last summer's senercio but may have given you time to close the positions out. I am not sure as I was not using them at that time.

I am maybe a little more conservative with my options strategies as I hold very few long stock portions, lots of cash, and about 30 percent of portfolio in options.
