Oklahoma teachers just had all of the seniority and redress rights upon termination eliminated.
The legislature put Janet Barresi (a dentist) in as head of the department of education whose main claim to fame is starting charter schools and intends to help the erosion of education in this state.
The legislature stripped the board of any power to stop her assault on education, basically making her a dictator.
Our last raise was in 1998-1999 after teachers marched on the capital.
Strikes were made illegal in Oklahoma year ago.
We don't have any benefits other than salary. We pay our insurance costs, which doesn't cover near what it should when we need it.
What is different from this that Burger King, except BK doesn't require a college degree?
