With half of the population not paying income tax, it isn't necessarily bad that a flat tax would obtain payments from those currently not paying. In theory, but for the vast majority the reason they're not paying income tax is that they're at or below the poverty level. I'll grant that we don't really give a rat's patootie about the poor in this country, but the politicians at least have to pretend they do. Phil Rule Your Retirement Home Fool |
