At some point in the very near future (can't say where, when, or how yet), I expect there to be a new player in the dragline and shovel market. We read that GE is interested in entering the mining equipment business. But they are most likely to enter the business by acquisition of an existing player and then infuse it with the benefits of excellent financing via GE Capital. But CAT vs GE is nothing new. CAT took on GE by acquiring the former GM EMD locomotives business. |
