This is what really concerns me. It is legal to keep deadly poisonous snakes as pets. People are all up in arms about Burmese Pythons in the Everglades but can you imagine if something really deadly and poisonous, like green mambas, cobras, or some Australian Elapids became established in Florida? Now that is scary.

I saw a small snake on our road recently, looked recently hatched, that looked a lot like a wide bodied viper to me. It was really snappy, wanting a piece of me. I can normally identify most snakes so I was surprised when I didn't have a clue what kind of snake this was. It's head was sort of diamond shaped but the coloration didn't look like anything I was familiar with. I saw it when I was walking out to our mailbox. I didn't kill, just used my walking stick to maneuver it off the road into the woods. If it is a poisonous snake I hope I don't run into it again. It was just a litle fella.
