In an article in the Athens Banner-Herald, Broun spokeswoman Meredith Griffanti attempted to downplay Broun’s comments, stating that Broun was speaking off the record about his personal religious beliefs. That's exactly the point. Anyone who would hold personal beliefs that are that separated from reality has no business having any role in national policy. Or town policy, for that matter. I'll bet he'd be a whiz at crafting the curriculum for Bible Study at his church, though. Religious tolerance should not extend to celebrating stupidity. |
