"if you are out in the boonies...way out...your community has to be self sufficient...but you'll probably not have the medical specialists you need and you might have to travel 40-150 miles to 'the big city' to get medical treatment." - tele I don't know, I like the boonies. I liked living in Union county, Tennessee. You've been there, you know what it's like. It's about ~ 20 miles into Knoxville, TN from where we lived. It was close enough to get in to shop and go to movies, hospital, etc. but far enough out that once we crossed Copper Ridge we were in the country. I especially liked only having to pay $24/year to get my car tags renewed, and how easy it was to go to the courthouse in Maynardville and take care of business, like paying taxes, etc. You just park out front of the courthouse and walk in and they know you and you step up to the window and in just a couple of minutes you're finished. I have to wait in line here every year to renew my license tag. Art |
