It is truly an amazing crisis! Imagine all the people who must be dying in the streets due to commie Canadian medicine!
Yet, their 5-year cancer survival rate is almost equal to the U.S.
The source linked above is actually from a U.K. site complaining about their NHS (National Health Service).
However, whenever people talk about the horrors of the NHS, they fail to note one little detail. British people can buy private insurance. So can the French, so can most other Europeans (although I am not familiar with the details in every country).
I am not sure about Canadians.
So, if we use the U.K. as an example, it is true that the NHS has the reputation as one of the worst public health services in Europe. Yet, people can get screening, treatments, operations, and prescriptions all for basically nothing. If the basic service offered is inadequate, they can purchase private health insurance and go to private doctors and hospitals, just like the U.S. system.
In the U.S., if someone does not have private insurance, they have the emergency room. The most expensive universal health care in the world.
So, you are going to pay for everyone to get treatment, one way or another. I think there are many people who simply believe you should try to do it in the most humane, effective manner possible.
