He couldn't have his "I, Captain Kicka$$, killer of al Qaeda" talking point overcome by actual reality, could he?
To be honest, I don't think this is even close to the thought process.
I think Obama and some (not all) of his close advisers really and truly believe in the Arab Spring.
I think they really and truly believe that the Arabs have genuine reason to resent the West.
I think the wanted their storyline of anger over US abuse of free speech to be true so very badly that they actually were incapable of perceiving reality.
IF you really believe something, it's not a lie. It's incompetence.
It should be noted, however, that EVERY president this century has suffered from this affliction.
