Even as Reality Plays Out in Europe, We Still Don't Seem to Get It.
Just a year ago top Democrats were set to give a little on Social Security and Medicare. However, today, a year deeper in the hole—emboldened by President Obama’s victory—they’re singing a different tune.
Here’s Harry Reed last week:
“I’ve made it very clear. I’ve told anyone that [sic] will listen, including everyone in the White House, including the president, that I am not going to be part of having Social Security as part of these talks relating to this deficit.”
Here’s Bernie Sanders last week:
“We’re going to send a loud message to the leadership in the House, in the Senate, and President Obama: `Do not cut Social Security, do not cut Medicare, do not cut Medicaid’. Every now and then elections have consequences. We won.”
They seem awfully determined to take the United States down.
