Thought I posted this recipe before, but can't find it--I make these for Christmas sometimes (my late Mom's recipe): Sift together: 1 1/2 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt Cream together until fluffy: 1 stick (1/2 c.) butter 1 c. sugar 1 egg 1 TB milk 1 tsp. anise extract Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Stir in an additional 1/2 c. flour to form stiff dough (total flour in recipe is 2 c.) Chill 1 hr. Roll out 1/8" thick on floured surface. Cut with cookie cutter(s). Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with colored sugar Bake in preheated 375 degree oven 8-10 minutes. makes 50-60 cookies (more or less depending on how big the cookie cutters are) |
