The main question to ask yourself is, why did you buy the disability policy to start with? Then, is that reason still valid?

I will hopefully be reaching that same question in a few years. My reasons were to cover expenses while I couldn't work and unexpected extra expenses if permanently disabled.

In a few years when I hit "pseudo" retirement, i.e. working at something just for the thrill of it not because I need the money and NOT in my current field, I'll probably drop my disability insurance or at least cut back on the amount of coverage. I figure at that point, my retirement savings will be covering my expenses and the insurance will be an unnecessary expense.
