The assumption here is anything DNA-altered is BAD.

Why?

Let's see - a few years back they DNA-altered rice, creating a hybrid of rice and carrots infused with vitamin-A, to prevent blindness in children in impoverished 3rd world countries.

But that means it's FRANKENFOOD! RUN AWAY!

One dictator did just that, forbidding the vitamin-rice to his people because of the FRANKENFOOD hysterics.

<sigh>

I've toured a local genetics company here in my town. It's wicked cool. And not so scary once you understand the science behind it.
