The point I was making is many people can't be bothered to pay attention. There's a fairly high level of apathy when it comes to politics. That's unfortunate.

WHile I agree, the point i was making and I believe it is an important one(not to say your's is not!) is, that voters who do not know the issues voting is a bad thing

Local elections with lower turnouts are likely far more representative of the reality of the voting public than larger tiurnout elections, as I expect 'informed' voters are represented equally across the spectrum of the population ideologically.
