State law may make them available or impose some limitations.

In Missouri, you can put TODs on most assets: real estate, brokerage accounts, bank accounts, even your auto title.

This can leave your estate with no assets. Hence you need to plan out how to fund estate taxes and your final bills, final income taxes, funeral, tombstone, etc. Most other assets can be transferred by TOD.

TOD keeps your assets out of probate, but does not eliminate your tax liability. If estate taxes are due, you need to plan a method to avoid them or pay them.
