Apparently some of us are getting "garbage" even when we shop carefully. I saw this report on tonight's evening news and it really burned me up: http://abcnews.go.com/US/exclusive-group-finds-fake-ingredie...... Even if you read labels meticulously, and understand what you're reading, you can still be misled. Absolutely. My rule of thumb to limit the nonsense, deception and profiteering at the expense of people's health is to diligently search for food sources that are the least tainted and processed by man. Having my own modest organic garden has helped my family in that direction ever since I tilled the soil the 1st time in our backyard early in our marriage. Other than that, it is often buyer beware. I seek organic produce, nuts, grains and legumes. When we do eat meat (rarely), we get grassfed beef/bison or wildcaught fish (no shellfish). I stay away from pork and foul. And then of course, I don't eat any whites: refined sugers, refined salt or refined grains. I also don't eat dairy as I am lactose intollerant anyway. I also avoid caffiene and limit alcohol to special occasions. Metal |
