lots of rabbits...until coyotes moved in.
The mountainous Griffith Park in Los Angeles where I run and walk and bike the dirt trails and firebreaks has a wonderful running drama of peak cycles of rabbits followed a year later by coyotes.
Two years ago in the 2nd week of lent i went for a run and there were cute little bunnies EVERYWHERE. I estimate I saw over 200 in my one hour trip.
Next year, fewer bunnies.
This year, lots and lots of hungry hungry coyotes.
The deer population is somewhat independent, correlated to bunnies by abundance of grass.
